Conlon Bailey Groove Diggers at the Adelaide Fringe

Hot on the heels of his sell-out Horrible History of Adelaide Fringe shows, Keith Conlon teams with co-leader Kerin Bailey to present a history of jazz in 60 minutes – ‘Cookin’ With Gas – That’s Jazz’ – with their hot jazz band The Conlon Bailey Groove Diggers.

The band features some of Adelaide’s finest musicians – legends Bob Jeffery (saxes – SA Music Hall of Fame) , Bob Johnson (trombone – Frank Sinatra, Liza Minelli and Sammy Davis Jnr to name a few) – and younger stars Chris Weber (trumpet) and Declan Horan (bass); and Keith and Kerin have played together as far back as the Bruce Gray All Stars in the 1970s.

With polished narration by Keith, the band will cover styles from Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Nat King Cole, Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck and Stan Getz to Herbie Hancock’s Watermelon Man.

The National Wine Centre Friday 16 March 9pm; Saturday 17 March 1.30pm; Sunday 18 March 4.30pm
